After Nico Iamaleava officially committed to the UCLA Bruins, his brother, Madden Iamaleava, shocked the college football world by re-entering the transfer portal himself. Madden, also a quarterback, will now be looking for a new home, much like his brother’s famed portal trip this month.

Madden Iamaleava Returns to the College Football Transfer Portal
The Iamaleava family is once again at the center of attention with the college transfer portal, this time thanks to quarterback Madden Iamaleava, who informed Arkansas that he was leaving the school to re-enter the portal.
The news comes on the same day that his older brother, Nico, officially committed to be the signal-caller for UCLA after a firestorm of controversy over his departure from the University of Tennessee following a dispute over his NIL deal.
Madden, a four-star recruit, was wrapping up his first spring football session with the Razorbacks as a true freshman. He signed with the school in January after initially committing to play at UCLA, then opting out the month before.
There has been no stated reason why the younger Iamaleava is heading back into the portal.
The 6’3″, 191-pound Madden was ranked No. 22 among quarterbacks in his class nationally, according to 247Sports.
Speculation has already begun that Madden could potentially return to UCLA as a backup to his older brother. The two played on the same team together at Warren High School in Downey, California, in 2022, when Nico was a senior. After transferring there from Warren, he was ineligible to play his senior year at Long Beach Poly.

Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman did not indicate in a press conference a couple of days ago that there was anything amiss.
“I think he’s done really well, especially since he didn’t play his senior year,” Pittman began. “I think he’s made a ton of improvement and I think you’ll see that the rest of the spring, summer, and fall camp.”
