    Where Could Sidney Mbanasor Transfer?

While Mbanasor hasn’t found much success in college, partly due to injuries, he’s seeking a fresh start after showing signs of improvement during Tulane’s spring practices.

With two years of eligibility left, Mbanasor reflected on his time with Utah and Tulane.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me to play the sport I’ve been playing my whole life… the love and support I have gotten from my teammates and coaches have been nothing short of love, for that I am forever grateful… I am excited to see what the lord has for my future.”

The big-bodied receiver hasn’t been able to find much playing time, appearing in only a few special-teams games in the past two seasons.

Mbanasor was a former three-star high school recruit competing in football, basketball, and track and field.

These are some teams that may be interested in his talents.

    South Carolina Gamecocks

The Gamecocks need depth at the WR position.

The Gamecocks finished 4th in the SEC last season following a 9-4 record. With a reliable defense and a returning quarterback in LaNorris Sellers, adding a tall receiver with plenty of untapped potential could do well for Carolina’s receiver room.

    Texas Longhorns

Texas is in dire need of receiving depth. They’ve already added Stanford standout Emmett Mosley V, who finished his freshman season with 48 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian has stated he’s looking for every opportunity to add talent at the skill positions.

Mbanasor can provide quarterback Arch Manning with a new weapon, and he is a program that can help unlock his untapped potential.

    Rice Owls

If Mbanasor decides to return to his home state, then Rice may be a perfect fit.

Born in Pflugerville, Texas, three hours west of Houston, Mbanasor is closer to home. The receiver may need this comfort to get his collegiate career back on track.

Rice finished 9th in the American Conference in 2024, so any additional talent will help boost their odds of being competitive this upcoming season.

    UTSA Roadrunners

This landing spot could be another potential homecoming for Mbanasor.

Head coach Jeff Taylor stated he believes this team can make a big jump in the American Conference next season.

Finishing in the middle of the pack at 7-6, with a 4-4 conference record, the Roadrunners have faith in their quarterback, Owen McCown. As a rising junior, he’s looking to improve upon last season, in which he threw for 3,424 yards with 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Staying in the American conference could bode well for Mbanasor, as he’s had a year to feel out the competition.

    Texas Tech Red Raiders

The state of Texas seems like a popular destination for Mbanasor. The receiver has clarified that he prefers to return to his hometown, and the Red Raiders could use help at the wide receiver position.

If the 6’5″ receiver finds himself playing in Lubbock next season, he would be the tallest on the roster. Quarterback Behren Morton is returning for his senior season after completing 63.8% of his passes last season for 3,335 yards, 27 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
