Bijan Robinson Recalls Emotional NFL Draft Night: ‘Everything Just Stopped’

Former Texas running back Bijan Robinson was slated as a top-ten pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after a spectacular college career in which he established himself as one of the best running backs in the world. He won the Doak Walker Award and was a unanimous All-American in 2022 after rushing for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Robinson’s 3,410 yards and 33 rushing touchdowns will go down in Texas history, and led him to be picked No. 8 overall by the Atlanta Falcons, the first running back selected in the 2023 draft, four selections before the Detroit Lions took Alabama’s Jahmyr Gibbs.

In an interview with NFL Network, Robinson recalled his draft night, calling it unforgettable.

Draft night was actually cooler than my expectations. I had some expectations, like no, man, it surpassed it. When I talked to Arthur Blank, that was the coolest feeling that I’ve ever had because I knew that I was going to Atlanta to go try to be one of the next great players that come out of there.”
