The Colorado Buffaloes have been the talk of the college football landscape since Deion Sanders became head coach, and for good season. He has turned the program into a box office program that will produce some of the top talent in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Let’s look at which former Colorado players are in the 2025 NFl Draft, exploring their scouting reports, potential landing spots, and where they sit on the CSN 2025 NFL Draft Top 300 Big Board.

Colorado Football Scouting Reports
WR/CB Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter is a special player. The gifted athlete is the top wide receiver in the 2025 NFL draft as well as the top cornerback in the class. Possessing some of the cleanest ball skills evaluated in recent seasons, the Colorado playmaker has the ability to be a top-five player at both positions in the NFL, using his twitchy movement, natural instincts, and high football IQ to make plays consistently.
The Heisman Trophy winner is a rare prospect who has the potential to play both ways in the NFL. Whether he is graded as a cornerback or receiver will be down to each individual team. However, Hunter has the stamina, will power, and physicality to line up on both sides of the ball in his rookie season.
CSN Big Board Ranking: 1
QB Shedeur Sanders
Shedeur Sanders has transcended college sports over his career. An enigma whose name simply carries expectation, he is widely regarded as the second-best quarterback available in the 2025 NFL Draft.
At 6’2” and 215 pounds, the Colorado quarterback has the size, accuracy, and game management to start as a rookie. He is one of the best passers of the ball on the move, but there are limitations to his game that will limit his ceiling in the NFL.
The former four-star recruit has below-average athleticism and tends to drift into contact in the pocket. Sanders is one of the most sacked passers in college football in the last two seasons, and some of it is on him. Meanwhile, his arm strength is below NFL standard.
Despite this, Sanders is one of the most pro-ready passers in the draft class due to his ability to go through his reads, be accurate with the football, and command an offense to a high level.
CSN Big Board Ranking: 44
WR Jimmy Horn Jr.
Jimmy Horn Jr. is an athletic wide receiver who has blazing straight-line speed and elusive movement after the catch. The Colorado pass catcher ran a disappointing 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFl Combine, but he plays plenty faster than that on tape.
However, at 5’8” and 174 pounds, Horn is significantly undersized, which may limit his production to a gadget role at the next level. He struggles to create separation when defensive backs get physical, which is especially evident against press coverage.
Despite this, the former multisport athlete and track star has a strong motor and is brave in contact, meaning he could be utilized as a special-teams player as a rookie.
CSN Big Board Ranking: 232
WR Lajohntay Wester
Lajohntay Wester was one of Sanders’ go-to targets other than Hunter in 2024, recording 931 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. The former FAU Owls’ pass catcher displayed adequate speed to anticipate through the catch, body control, and special teams versatility in his final college season in Boulder.
However, at 5’10” and 163 pounds, Wester is extremely slim and lacks overall length to consistently claw in passes away from his body at the catch point. He can get overpowered by physicality and can play tight through his transitions.
CSN Big Board Ranking: 261
WR Will Sheppard
As CSN’s 268th-ranked prospect, Will Sheppard will likely be a UDFA pick-up after the 2025 NFL Draft. With good size at 6’2” and 198 pounds, the Buffaloes’ receiver is a contested catch, possession receiver who has good ball skills when used deep.
However, Sheppard lacks the athleticism to create separation in his routes and lacks agile movement skills. He plays stiff through the catch and doesn’t provide fluid technique or consistent movement at the top of his routes.
CSN Big Board Ranking: 268
SAF Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders has been operating in the shadows of his brother but has flashed potential throughout his career. The safety prospect was a 2025 NFL Combine snub, but he reportedly ran a 4.52-second 40-yard dash at his pro day. Paired with his 6’0”, 195-pound frame, there is the build and speed to work with.
However, Sanders has an extensive injury history, including an ACL tear, and lacks physicality when tackling. The Buffaloes’ defensive back is far too loose as a tackler and has a lack of twitchy movement in coverage.
CSN Big Board Ranking: 299
Shane Cokes, DT
Shane Cokes was a team leader during his two-year stay at Colorado. He was a two-year starter at Dartmouth before transferring to finish up his final two seasons at Colorado.
A versatile defensive lineman who can line up at multiple techniques, Cokes is a consistent tackler who can finish the opportunities created for himself. He has below-average pass-rushing skills and struggles to get off blocks consistently, being unable to win using his power or athleticism.
Cokes had just 20 total hurries, three tackles for loss, and one sack during his time in Colorado and had a pass rush win rate of just 4.4% this past season.
