La La Anthony Reacts as Son Kiyan Anthony Drops 25 Points in MVP Performance at Jordan Brand Classic

Kiyan Anthony scored 25 points, and securing MVP honors. The game also featured fellow Syracuse recruit Sadiq White, but it was Anthony who captured the spotlight. Just weeks earlier, he earned MVP at The Throne Hoops championship.

Anthony celebrated his latest accolade on social media, writing, “i made that list,” as support poured in from fans and celebrities alike.

His mother, La La Anthony, reacted on Instagram with a two-word message:

“Love you!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️,” La La said.

The 2025 Jordan Brand Classic in Washington, D.C., was a night of emerging stars and family legacies. Kiyan Anthony, a Syracuse commit and son of NBA icon Carmelo Anthony, tallied 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting and grabbed five rebounds, guiding Team Air to a 141-124 win over Team Flight.

Despite earlier reports, he finished one point shy of his father’s 27-point outing in the event’s inaugural 2002 game. Carmelo himself presented Kiyan with the MVP jacket, making the moment even more special.

The event marked another high point for Kiyan, who had previously been overlooked for the McDonald’s All-American Game—an omission his mother, La La Anthony, passionately addressed.

Kiyan Anthony averaged 15.9 points as a senior, showcasing elite shooting with 31 threes among 79 field goals. His footwork echoes Carmelo’s, though his passing and ball handling could surpass his father’s. A 25-point outing at Oak Hill highlighted his sharp scoring instincts and modern offensive skill set.

Joining Anthony as an MVP was Oklahoma commit Aaliyah Chavez. The 5’11” point guard from Monterey High (Texas) finished with 24 points, five assists, and five steals, leading Team Flight to a 128-108 win. Chavez offset a record-setting 28-point game by North Carolina-bound Nyla Brooks.

Team Air also got major contributions from North Carolina commit Caleb Wilson (28 points), Baylor’s Tounde Yessoufou (19), and uncommitted Acaden Lewis, who posted eight assists and eight rebounds in 12 minutes.
