St. John’s sophomore guard, Simeon Wilcher, surprised his fanbase and everyone on Friday, April 18, with his decision to enter the transfer portal after two seasons with the Red Storm. In comparison to averaging 2.8 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game as a freshman, there have been improvements in his game as a sophomore.
The 6’4” guard averaged 8.0 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.4 turnovers per game last season on 40.7 percent shooting from the field and 29.7 percent from three-point range. This Plainfield native started 25 games for the Red Storm this season. Wilcher was a key contributor to the team, as many have said that no player departure is as painful as his.
Wilcher has not left anyone in the dark as to why he has chosen to enter the transfer portal. He is choosing a better team that fits his talents and abilities. St. John’s disappointing loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks in the early stages of the NCAA Tournament has fueled his decision to leave the Red Storm.

What Will Wilcher Bring to His Next Team?
Simeon Wilcher is a transfer point guard with excellent court vision. He will take his unique flair and athletic ability to any team he joins. He is a great three-point shooter and an even more outstanding team player who always ensures everyone is doing great.
His ability to read his opponent’s next move and defend against it sets him apart from other players. His aggressive and merciless nature against his opponents and rim-protecting ability make him a great guard.
