Hailey Van Lith Focused on WNBA Future

During her introductory press conference, Van Lith mentioned having a quick conversation with the Sky organization. The conversations influenced her decision, and she hinted that deep in her heart, she wanted to come to the Sky because she saw a lot of alignment, and the team appreciated and valued her as a player.

She also discussed how the Chicago Sky believed in her dream, mindset, and personality. Hailey said, “I was encouraged when I spoke with them.” These statements of conviction make it clear that choosing to play for the Chicago Sky was a well-thought-out decision by Van Lith, and she is prepared to fight for her place on the team.

Van Lith looks forward to playing for the Sky and is excited about the opportunity to play with veteran guards like Courtney Vandersloot and Ariel Atkins.

According to her, “what those vets do really well are things that I am looking forward to improve upon or really take advantage of learning from them.”

Thus, as her transition to the WNBA begins, she is focused on learning and improving her skills. Such an excellent mindset will help eliminate any pressure she might feel, knowing she has players with outstanding experience around her. With these players’ excellent court vision and tempo, Van Lith has much to learn from them.

A Reunion With Angel Reese Around the Corner

Another exciting aspect of her move to the Sky is the opportunity to reunite with a former teammate and friend, Angel Reese. Both players played together during the 2023-24 season at LSU. However, they did not have enough time to enjoy their time together and understand each other’s play.

With the second opportunity, they now have the chance to work together. Commenting further on the reunion, Van Lith said, “It’s a different environment than when I played with Angel the first time.”

She added, “We’re both different players than we were when we played with each other, but again, probably good things. So, I can’t wait to get to play with Angel and Kamilla (Cardoso).”

Her words show how excited Hailey is to begin her WNBA career. Now that she has reached her goals, she knows she must give her best effort to ensure she makes the most of this opportunity.
