Deion Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, faced plenty of speculation about his future following the 2024 season. With star players Travis Hunter and his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, rumors swirled that Sanders might follow them to the pros. Some even linked him to the Dallas Cowboys.
But Sanders quickly shut down the idea. He confirmed he plans to stay at Colorado, stating that his focus is on building the program after a strong nine-win campaign. In a recent press conference, he delivered a confident message that showed he is fully committed to the Buffaloes and ready to keep pushing the team forward.

What Coach Prime Said About His New Contract With Colorado
At the press conference, Sanders addressed the NFL rumors head-on.
“I mean, I told y’all I wasn’t going nowhere. I don’t know why y’all didn’t believe me, you know,” Sanders said. “I’ll cry to you before I lie to you.”
He spoke openly about his love for Colorado, saying, “I love it here. I adore it here.” He also noted that before finalizing his own deal, he wanted to make sure other key priorities were addressed first, including the school’s NIL strategy and contracts for his assistant coaches.
“We got them taken care of. So, then I came in, came in and got mine done,” he said.
Sanders has now agreed to a five-year deal worth $54 million, making him the fourth highest-paid coach per year in college football. Still, he made it clear he didn’t want the spotlight on his salary.
“I don’t like talking about me and talking about money, man. I’ve never been one to do that,” Sanders said. “I don’t ever remember fighting for — I just ball. The money finds you, so if that’s the approach, that’s the approach.”
As the press conference wrapped up, Sanders added, “I don’t like talking about my stuff. Let’s talk about somebody else.”
