Ashton Jeanty has written a letter to NFL general managers just one week before the 2025 NFL Draft, telling them exactly why he believes he’s destined for greatness on the football field. His recount of a specific memory should have GMs ready to draft him — if they weren’t already.

Ashton Jeanty’s 60-Yard TD Sparked His Football Epiphany
In a Players’ Tribune article, Jeanty emphasizes that it’s not the position he plays that defines him—it’s the attitude and mindset he brings to the game.
“I truly believe I was born to do this. And I truly believe that what makes me different — it isn’t about the position I line up at. It’s about the mindset I bring to it,” Jeanty wrote.
He said he still feels like he’s just playing football in the backyard with his friends, with the belief that “no one can touch me.”
Jeanty joined a rec league team in fifth grade, and the first time he touched the ball, he says he scored a 60-yard touchdown. That moment, he said, changed everything.
“One, I’m going to be very successful at this. And two, I love this.”
Jeanty also opened up about the adversity he faced when his father, who was serving in the military, was transferred overseas, forcing him to pause his football career for a year.
“When I had to move across the world and pause football for a year, my attitude was, ‘Well, alright—I can’t control that.’ So, let’s take what I can control and make the absolute best of it.”
If you think Jeanty’s letter comes off as bragging, his resume speaks volumes. Over three seasons at Boise State, he backed it up on the field.
He finished the 2024 season with 2,601 rushing yards on 374 carries and 29 touchdowns. He was the runner-up in Heisman Trophy voting and came close to breaking Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record.
