KK Arnold Shares Some Motivation After Paige Buekcers Gets Drafted by Dallas Wings

After winning multiple Player of the Year awards as a freshman, she suffered a tibial plateau fracture and a lateral meniscus tear in Dec. 2021 as a sophomore, which kept her sidelined for 19 games. She then tore her ACL as a junior, which caused her to miss the entire 2022-23 season.

Despite all the adversity, Bueckers returned stronger than ever and, in her final year at UConn, did what she was always destined to do.

She finished with a career average of 19.8 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. To the delight of her teammate KK Arnold, she simply responded with two words on Buecker’s Instagram post of being the number one overall pick, “COME ONNN.”

The friendship between Bueckers and Arnold can be exemplified through many social media posts, including TikTok reels they’ve created and those fans have made, observing them both on the sidelines. Two years is plenty of time to make a strong connection and a lifelong friendship, especially with a championship under their belts.

Arnold played the previous two seasons with Bueckers and is now entering her junior season. After starting 33 games her freshman season, she reverted back to a bench role for her sophomore season and was a vital piece to their championship run.

She embraced this role naturally, which provides more evidence of the kind of teammate she is. Arnold even stated she never considered looking for a bigger role at a different school.

“Not at all, honestly,” Arnold said when asked if there was a better place for during an appearance at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers in Enfield. “This is my dream school, so I’m just kind of just living out my dream, being here alongside my sisters, playing with and learning from the best coaches. I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity.”
