Who Are Rebecca Lobo’s Kids? A Glimpse into the Analyst’s Family Life

Rebecca Lobo’s legacy extends far beyond the basketball court where she first made her name. The former WNBA star turned ESPN analyst has built a fulfilling life off-camera with her husband, sports journalist Steve Rushin, and their four children.

As Lobo continues to break barriers in sports broadcasting, her home life provides a grounding force that complements her professional achievements. The family represents a blend of athletic prowess and journalistic talent, mirroring the careers of both parents. While Lobo analyzes games from courtside, her children are writing their own stories.

Meet Rebecca Lobo and Steve Rushin’s Children

Rebecca Lobo and Steve Rushin have welcomed four children into their lives: Siobhan Rose, Maeve Elizabeth, Thomas Joseph, and Rose Rushin.

Their eldest daughter, Siobhan, was born on Christmas Day, 2004. She is attending Fordham, where she studies Communication and Culture with a concentration in Media Studies and a minor in English while working at WFUV Public Radio.

Maeve Elizabeth, born in August 2006, recently completed her senior year at Northwest Catholic High School as a standout basketball player.

When discussing watching her daughter play, Lobo revealed, “I love it, and at the same time, my stomach is in a knot. Sometimes, it’s in a knot the entire day… It certainly was easier for me as a player.”

Thomas Joseph, born in October 2008, is the only son in the Lobo-Rushin household. The youngest child, Rose, was born in October 2010, completing their family of six. Despite their parents’ public profiles, the younger Rushin children maintain relatively private lives while growing up in Connecticut.

Passing Down a Legacy of Equality

Rebecca Lobo’s influence extends beyond genetic traits to the values she instills in her children. Her advocacy for women’s sports has shaped how her children view gender equality from their earliest years.

During March Madness 2009, Lobo shared an illuminating anecdote, “My 4-year-old walked into the living room… glanced at the television and said… ‘I didn’t know boys played basketball too!'”

This perspective reflects the normalized excellence of women’s sports in the Lobo-Rushin household, where Title IX’s impact is lived rather than just discussed.

While Maeve follows her mother’s basketball path, Siobhan gravitates toward media like her father. Each child develops their unique interests while benefiting from parents who understand both athletic discipline and creative expression.

The family divides their time between attending sporting events, supporting each other’s endeavors, and enjoying life in their Connecticut community. As her children grow, Lobo continues balancing her ESPN duties with family responsibilities, embodying the work-life integration that many professional women strive to achieve in their own lives.
