Shedeur Sanders Could Come to Pittsburgh, Maybe

Russini is the Senior NFL Insider for The Athletic and host of the Scoop City Podcast. Her Instagram post said, “He could be a Steeler by the time this is released. He could be a Steeler by the time training camp starts… I talked to some people in Pittsburgh who told me it’s a matter of time. I’ve spoken to other people in Pittsburgh who were like, we have no idea.”

Still, Russini’s post doesn’t tell us whether Rodgers is a Steeler or the plan for Sanders.

Several factors in Rodgers’ coming to the Steelers were shared last week by the website Steelers Nation and on Speak, hosted by Joy Taylor, Keyshawn Johnson, and Paul Pierce.

    Steelers’ QB situation is precarious.

Steelers Nation’s Byron Mantoan called the Steelers’ quarterback situation a “purgatory,” with Rodgers taking longer to decide.

The purgatory stems partly from the New York Giants signing Russell Wilson, who played last year with the Steelers, leaving them without an experienced NFL pivot.

Keyshawn Johnson said on Speak that the Steelers should go after Rodgers and get Sanders.

“No, not; instead, they should put them together. Well, first of all, 21, I don’t think he’s(Sanders) going to last that long, but if they can climb up there to get him if it feels he’s hovering around one of those landmarks where they can go up and get him, they should probably think about doing that.”

Sanders himself elaborated on the Up and Adams show with Kay Adams. She asked him if Rodgers was brought up as a quarterback playing for the Steelers, and he said, “We didn’t talk about anybody.”

Sanders has been placed at various positions in some Mock Drafts, going to the New Orleans Saints at No. 9. He is touted as the second-highest quarterback behind Cam Ward, who the Tennessee Titans should draft No. 1.
