Harmoni’s early years in Mansfield, Texas, were rough. She faced abuse from her biological mother, who also battled severe personal demons. At four, Harmoni met Krystal, a woman who would redefine her understanding of family.
“At a young age I didn’t think I was deserving of a mother like her,” Harmoni told The Harvard Gazette. “When she came into my life and took me in as her own, it was comforting to see her love me for me, regardless of the circumstances that I’ve been through.”
Krystal’s warmth gave Harmoni a safe haven. When Krystal married Rocky, he stepped into the role of adoptive father. By third grade, Rocky secured full custody, anchoring Harmoni’s life with stability. “I’ve learned a lot from her, she is my hero,” Harmoni said of Krystal. This bond fueled her drive, both on and off the court.
Harmoni’s basketball career took off at Harvard. She earned Rookie of the Year as a freshman. By January 2025, she climbed to fourth on Harvard Crimson’s all-time scoring list after a 73-44 rout of Penn at The Palestra.
Her international play with the 2024 FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup squad in Mongolia showcased her global reach. Despite a knee injury briefly sidelining her, she returned stronger and led the team as captain.
Beyond athletics, Harmoni also excels academically. In 2022, she interned at Harvard Business School, crossing paths with Tiffany Haddish and Tamika Catchings.
Krystal and Rocky’s influence also extends to Harmoni’s sense of purpose. Together, they launched Pretty N’ Secure, a mentorship program for young girls facing challenges. Through regular sessions, they teach resilience, helping teens in Texas navigate trauma.
When Harvard played Baylor in Waco, the Pretty N’ Secure group cheered courtside. Harmoni emphasizes that past struggles don’t define future potential.
