Former 4-Star Recruit Sophomore Kaleb Glenn Commits to Michigan State

The Michigan State Spartans basketball program secured a major transfer commitment Thursday as Kaleb Glenn, a former four-star recruit and versatile 6’7″ sophomore forward, announced his decision to join Tom Izzo’s squad.

Glenn brings a proven scoring touch and physical presence after leading Florida Atlantic University with 12.6 points per game while shooting an impressive 41% from beyond the arc during the 2024-25 season.

Kaleb Glenn’s Development Shows Promise for Spartans

Glenn’s journey to Michigan State comes after stops at Louisville and Florida Atlantic, where he steadily developed his game from role player to offensive centerpiece.

His connection with current Spartans point guard Jeremy Fears, a former AAU teammate on Indy Heat, likely influenced his decision. Michigan State now has a talented forward with two years of eligibility remaining as Izzo retools his roster for another championship run.

The Louisville native arrives at Michigan State with a diverse skill set that perfectly complements Izzo’s system. During his time at Florida Atlantic, Glenn established himself as an efficient three-point shooter, converting 41% from beyond the arc on 117 attempts. He also shot particularly well from the wings (47% left and 44% right).

His physical finishing ability at the rim and prowess as a transition scorer address immediate needs for the Spartans.

Before his college career, Glenn dominated at Louisville Male High School, averaging 21.6 points and 12.6 rebounds as a junior while earning first-team all-state honors. His game-winning jumper in triple overtime secured a regional championship and spot in Kentucky’s Sweet 16.

He later transferred to the prestigious La Lumiere School in Indiana, where he averaged 15.2 points and 9.1 rebounds while shooting 54% from the field and 39% from three.

    Filling Critical Roster Needs

Glenn’s commitment couldn’t come at a better time for Michigan State, which has experienced significant roster turnover. With the departures of Tre Holloman and Xavier Booker to the transfer portal and Jase Richardson’s intention to declare for the NBA draft, the Spartans needed experienced scoring and versatility at the forward position.

As an X user noted, Glenn “checks a lot of boxes for how MSU plays” with his catch-and-shoot ability, transition scoring and physical play as a tweener forward. His addition complements Michigan State’s incoming freshman class, which features four-star recruits Cam Ward and Jordan Scott.

The commitment generated immediate excitement across social media, with Spartans fans expressing enthusiasm about Glenn’s potential impact. Originally ranked No. 79 overall in the 2023 recruiting cycle and the No. 1 player in Kentucky, Glenn chose Louisville before transferring to Florida Atlantic.

Now at Michigan State, he’ll look to build on his sophomore breakout season, where he shot 53.1% from the field across 35 games.

At Florida Atlantic, Glenn started just four games while appearing in all 35, showcasing his ability to produce efficiently whether starting or coming off the bench. His 4.8 rebounds per game and physical style should help Michigan State maintain its traditional toughness while adding much-needed floor spacing from a big wing who can shoot.
