There has been a lot of movement as teams continue their preparations for the new season. Dallas Mavericks assistant Alex Jensen has been appointed head coach at Utah, and Indiana has hired Darian DeVries from West Virginia. 1. Will Wade to North Carolina State
Will Wade led McNeese State to the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament before he was hired as the head coach of North Carolina State. The 42-year-old achieved considerable success at McNeese and his experience will be key for North Carolina.
2. Kevin Willard to Villanova
Kevin Willard accepted the head coach position at Villanova after leading Maryland to the Sweet 16. The 50-year-old has a proven track record and Villanova will be hoping he can lead them to success.
3. Buzz Williams to Maryland
Buzz Williams replaced Kevin Willard at Maryland after the Willard left for North Carolina State. Williams, 52, holds the record for the total victories and ranks No. 2 in NCAA Tournament games and NCAA Tournament victories.
4. Sean Miller to Texas
56-year-old Sean Miller left many people in shock after leaving Xavier to become the head coach at Texas. Texas will hope Miller can replicate his success at Xavier and his ability to attract top talents.
5. Richard Pitino to Xavier
Richard Pitino was hired in to replace Sean Miller. The 42-year-old is the son of Rick Pitino, who at the age of 72 is the oldest head coach in the NCAA Tournament.
6. Josh Pastner to UNLV
Josh Pastner has an overall record of 276-187 over 14 seasons as a collegiate head coach before he was appointed as UNLV’s head coach. The 47-year-old has the required experience to lead UNLV to success.
7. Darian DeVries to Indiana
Darian DeVries was hired as the head coach of Indiana after spending just a year as the head coach of West Virginia. The 50-year-old was previously the head coach at Drake from 2018 to 2024.
8. Ryan Odom to Virginia
50-year-old Ryan Odom was appointed as the head coach of Virginia last month. Odom has also been head coach of UMBC Retrievers, Utah State Aggies, and VCU Rams. He led each program to the NCAA Tournament by his second year.
9. Phil Martelli Jr. to VCU
Phil Martelli Jr. was named the 14th head coach in VCU Men’s Basketball history last month. The 43-year-old replaced Odom, who left for Virginia.

10. Alex Jensen to Utah
Utah appointed Dallas Mavericks assistant Alex Jensen as its new head coach last month, just over a week after they fired former coach Craig Smith towards the end of his fourth season in charge. The 48-year-old is a former Utah player.
