‘Smart Business Decision’ – Terrance Ferguson Unravels Dante Moore’s Return to Eugene Amidst Growing QB Competition

Dante Moore and Austin Novosad are in a tight battle to become the next quarterback for the Oregon Ducks.

The Ducks are coming off consecutive seasons with extremely high-level quarterback play from Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel, and whoever wins the competition will need to fill some big shoes. In the age of name, image, and likeness, it is easy to quit during a competition and enter the transfer portal, but Moore is sticking it out, and his former teammate is noticing.

Terrance Ferguson Credits Dante Moore For Staying at Oregon

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, former Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson credited Moore for staying with the Ducks amid the battle with Novosad, saying it is a “Smart business decision.”

Ferguson went on to praise Moore further, saying the young quarterback “Has one of the best arms I’ve ever seen.”

Moore was the fourth-ranked player in the 2023 recruiting class and a consensus five-star. He committed to UCLA out of high school, where he had an up-and-down freshman season before transferring to Oregon and sitting behind Gabriel for a season.

At the start of the offseason, it was a foregone conclusion that Moore was going to be the Ducks’ starter heading into 2024, but over the course of spring practice, Novosad has been competing neck and neck with Moore.

The battle will most likely carry over through fall practice, but I still expect Moore to be Oregon’s starter come week one. Regardless of how the battle shakes out, it is clear that Moore has all the talent in the world and that his current and former teammates think highly of him.
