Alvin Kamara Comparisons Further Strengthen Ashton Jeanty’s Case as Top-6 Pick in 2025 NFL Draft

Draft analyst Todd McShay has recently released his latest mock draft less than three weeks before the start of the NFL draft.

In his mock draft, McShay has high hopes for Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

Which Team Will Draft Ashton Jeanty?

In McShay’s 3.0 mock draft, he projects the Doak Walker Award winner being selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the No. 6 overall pick.

This is what McShay said specifically about the likely soon-to-be first-round pick:

“Every team I’ve talked to has given Jeanty a top-six grade…I also see shades of Alvin Kamara when studying Jeanty’s receiving tape…A true every-down dynamic player…”

It is hard to argue with anything McShay wrote after analyzing what Jeanty accomplished in his incredible final season with the Broncos.

Also, for context, Alvin Kamara is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and the New Orleans Saints’ all-time leading rusher. He has also recorded more than 75 receptions and more than 500 receiving yards in five of his eight NFL seasons.

    Ashton Jeanty is a Game-Changer

A team like the Raiders could greatly use a versatile running back on offense. They have been searching for that ever since they elected not to re-sign All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs a few offseasons ago.

When it comes to Jeanty, who is from Jacksonville, he has the chance to take it the distance whenever he touches the ball. He essentially doubled his numbers from 2023 in 2024 and proved that he might be an even better rusher than Kamara ever was. His 2,601 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns, which both led the Football Bowl Subdivision last season, are proof that he can succeed on every down.

Plus, two seasons ago, he caught 43 passes for 569 yards and five touchdowns. That same year, he still recorded more than 1,300 rushing yards. NFL fans should not expect him to fall too far as he is one of the elite prospects, regardless of position, in this year’s draft.

The Raiders sound like a great fit at pick No. 6 overall, but a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers could be a team to watch out for if Jeanty starts to slide a little bit.
