On Wednesday, UConn star and projected first overall pick in next week’s WNBA Draft Paige Bueckers posted to Instagram to celebrate former Husky teammate Nika Mühl’s 24th birthday. She then posted a sweet shot of the pair hugging, writing, “Twin day!! Happy birthday, sister. Locked I love you always.”
This message was the first glimpse into their relationship at UConn between 2020 and 2024. Their bond showed on the court and off, to the point where they called each other “twin.”
Mühl moved from college to professional ball last season after being drafted by the Seattle Storm. During the offseason, she also spent time with Turkish team Beşiktaş J.K. Her season came to an abrupt end; however, because of ACL and meniscus tears forced her to sit out the remainder of the season.
Mutual Support Between Bueckers and Mühl
Mühl and Bueckers have a close bond, relentlessly cheering for each other in good times and bad. After UConn’s national championship win, Mühl posted on her Instagram story, with pride and happiness for Bueckers, “A national champion.”
