The college football spring transfer portal is just days away from opening for most players. However, some get special priority as one of the top running backs in the league, Freddie Brock, has officially transitioned from Georgia Tech to the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
The Oklahoma State college football team added some very good depth to its running back position. Brock will be entering his sixth season of college football and looks to cap his career with a great final season in Stillwater before potentially going off to the next level.

Oklahoma State Transfer Portal: Top RB Freddie Brock Transitions From Georgia State
Throughout the last season, Brock was a very solid contributor for Georgia State. He led the team in rushing, finishing the year with 151 carries for 819 yards and eight touchdowns. He also showed his ability to be a pass catcher, hauling in 21 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown, which more than showed his versatility as a running back.
After having a successful three seasons at Maine, Brock decided to transfer to Georgia State in 2023 and needed some time to adjust to the FBS level. While Brock only played in three regular-season games and had minimal production, he broke out in the Panthers’ Idaho Potato Bowl victory. In the season finale, he proved he can play at a high level in the FBS, picking up 276 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown for a monster game.
Since Ollie Gordon is out of the mix, the Cowboys have questions that need answers at the running back position for the first time since 2022. Gordon won the Doak Walker Award and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. He was even a Heisman candidate entering the 2024 season.
Replacing a player who produces as much or as well as Gordon will be impossible for any player to accomplish. So, adding another talented running back with Brock to a position that already sees the likes of Rodney Fields Jr., Sesi Vailahi, and Kalib Hicks gives the Cowboys a good chance to diversify their ground game.
Simply put, Brock will add to the various names on the Cowboys roster, making their first appearance in Stillwater in the 2025 season. After a lot of talent from the 2024 roster left, the Cowboys have to build mostly through the transfer portal. This time, new team coordinators Doug Meacham and Todd Grantham will be leading the charge.

There’s certainly no guarantee that the Cowboys’ offseason moves will result in them having a bounce-back season. Additions like Brock from the transfer portal should only help OSU as it looks to begin a brand-new college bowl streak.
