The college football transfer portal is just days away from opening, and every team anticipates feeling its impact. For the Clemson Tigers, this includes the departure of their freshman redshirt cornerback, Tavoy Feagin, who intends to enter the portal with four years of eligibility remaining.

Clemson Tigers CB Tavoy Feagin Plans To Enter the Transfer Portal
While Feagin hasn’t yet showcased significant playing time at the college level, his potential is considered high. Clemson will be losing a young player with the potential to become a key starter, prompting them to seek another talented young cornerback to develop in the coming years.
The 6-foot, 185-pound cornerback played one season for Clemson under head coach Dabo Swinney, defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin, and co-special teams coordinator and cornerbacks coach Mike Reed. He expressed gratitude for his time at Clemson and the support he received.
“I just want to thank the Clemson staff and fans for supporting me,” Feagin told Rivals.com’s Adam Friedman.
In January, Swinney announced that Goodwin would not return for 2025, and Tom Allen was hired as the new defensive coordinator. It remains uncertain whether this coaching change influenced Feagin’s decision to enter the transfer portal and leave Clemson.
Feagin appeared in two games for Clemson in 2024, against Appalachian State and The Citadel. In those contests, he played a total of 11 defensive snaps and did not record any statistics. He also participated in four special teams snaps in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus.
As a recruit in the 2024 class, Feagin was ranked as the No. 177 overall prospect, the No. 23 cornerback, and the No. 30 player in the state of Florida. He received more than 50 scholarship offers out of high school, highlighting the strong interest from various colleges.
Feagin was also rated as a four-star cornerback prospect from Carrollwood Day School in Tampa, Florida, in the 2024 recruiting cycle. His remaining four years of eligibility should be appealing to many colleges, as it represents a multi-year opportunity.

Overall, Feagin’s departure marks a notable change for Clemson’s defensive backfield. This move also presents Feagin with a significant opportunity to revitalize his college career. The highly-regarded prospect will be looking for a new program where he can make an immediate impact and demonstrate his considerable potential.
