Star Freshman Kiyomi McMiller Lists 6 Final Schools After Rutgers Exit

After an impressive freshman campaign, McMiller is officially in the transfer portal. The former Rutgers guard averaged 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, showcasing elite playmaking and scoring ability.

Despite her on-court performance, off-court challenges—including team suspensions—contributed to her decision to leave the program.

McMiller, a 5’9″ point guard out of Life Center Academy in Burlington, New Jersey, was a 5-star recruit and ranked No. 27 nationally. She originally committed to Rutgers over UCF, Florida State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Temple, and James Madison.

Her national profile grew early when she became the first high school athlete to sign an NIL deal with Jordan Brand in February 2023.

At Rutgers, she quickly went viral for her flashy handles and highlight plays. According to Bart Torvik’s data, she posted the highest usage rate in the Big Ten among freshmen. McMiller told On3 Sports that she is considering six programs: Tennessee, Auburn, Houston, St. John’s, USF and Florida State.

Tennessee, coming off a 24-10 season under a new head coach, is looking to add backcourt firepower. Auburn, likely in a rebuild after a tough year, could offer her a leading role.

Houston finished 5-25 but presents a chance for McMiller to be the centerpiece of a Big 12 turnaround. St. John’s, likely improved from 16-15, offers proximity to home. USF, at 23-11, and Florida State, at 24-8, are established contenders in the AAC and ACC, respectively.
