After Slamming Critics, Shannon Sharpe Rates One Shedeur Sanders Quality Above Tom Brady

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders finds himself at the center of a not-so-nice debate. Although he’s widely considered a potential early selection, the 23-year-old continues to face an onslaught of criticism – something Shannon Sharpe addressed head-on in the latest episode of the “Nightcap” podcast.

Shannon Sharpe Praises Shedeur Sanders Over Tom Brady One Quality

Although Sanders has been mentored by his father and Tom Brady, the QB faces a surprising change in fortune.

After an impressive college run, the 2024 Golden Arm winner was projected to join the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants. But the tide has turned—reports indicate both teams have shifted their focus to rising stars Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter.

Sharpe and Chad Johnson didn’t hold back when addressing the Buffaloes quarterback’s unexpected draft slide, calling it pettiness. Sharpe, in particular, targeted the two teams’ decisions, given their bad record at the QB position.

“If you go back and look at it, nobody has had more quarterbacks than probably them…. I’m tired of speculating. I don’t understand; how does somebody rise or fall, and nobody’s played a game in three months?”

Sharpe also raved about Sanders’ athleticism, saying it sets him apart from many players, including the legendary Brady.

“When you watch the guy in short, no, he is not Lamar Jackson as far as in athleticism. But he has an arm that is good enough. Are you telling me that Tom Brady…are more athletic than Shedeur? No, they’re not, and they got it done.”

Being the son of Coach Prime undoubtedly gave Sanders an early spotlight, but his work ethic and performances on the field have kept him in the limelight.

With a few weeks remaining until the draft, the buzz around Sanders is only heating up. Yet much of the criticism seems focused on off-field rather than his on-field abilities. In the end, however, it won’t be talk but his NFL-level performance that silences the skeptics.
