The UConn Huskies are national champions yet again. In a match that’s becoming a championship classic, Geno Auriemma’s squad went up against Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks. Unlike 2022, this time, the odds favored the UConn Huskies. Huskies went on to win 82-59.
It is their 12th win under Auriemma. And Paige Bueckers finally got her ring in what might be her swan song. Azzi Fudd also did a great job with her 24 points, and freshman phenom Sarah Strong ended the match with 24 points and 15 rebounds. But while the stars of the show were doing star things, one moment had the adrenaline going. And that was KK Arnold’s dunk that will go down in history as iconic.

KK Arnold’s Iconic Dunk Reminds the World of LeBron
It was early in the fourth quarter. The scores stood at 62–42, with the UConn Huskies taking the lead. But then, with 9:53 left on the clock, KK Arnold decided to change that number. A fast break opened up, and KK owned the moment.
KK went to the rim, finished a tough dunk through contact, and landed hard on the hardwood. But instead of springing up or even wincing, she just lay there. Arms crossed and eyes open, soaking the adrenaline in. And just like that, the Huskies moved up to 64. The moment gave many hoop fans déjà vu.

The fandom was quick to draw parallels to the legendary LeBron James. LeBron has often been meme-fied for lying flat on the court after big plays or crushing defeats. Sometimes, it is from exhaustion, sometimes from celebration. But no doubt, it is always just as iconic. And KK Arnold made that floor her throne for a brief moment.
But what’s getting the fandom a whole lot more excited is that KK Arnold has been grinding all year. And she finally had her moment. The sophomore guard from Wisconsin, affectionately known simply as KK, has carved out a key sixth-player role for the Huskies.
KK had nine points and three assists in UConn’s Final Four rout of UCLA. She was a three-time Wisconsin State Player of the Year in high school, with 2,400 career points at Germantown. So, there is no surprise that her dunk was perfectly accurate.
KK is also a top-10 recruit in the 2023 class, and to add to the drama, she picked UConn over South Carolina. The very team she just posterized in the championship. She grew up dreaming of playing under Geno Auriemma, and now she’s living it. And she has done it all with a brilliant title.

The Huskies cut down the nets. And Bueckers finally got her revenge and the elusive title. But when the world looks back at the 2025 championship run, there’s a strong chance that the KK Arnold on the floor, going full LeBron, will be remembered.
