It’s down to just six schools for Illinois transfer Tre White. The former Fighting Illini guard, who started his career at USC, averaged 10.5 points and five and a half rebounds in 31 starts after transferring from Louisville. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
The 6’7” White received a lot of attention in the portal but is now down to just six programs: St. John’s, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, Kansas, and USC, according to 247 Sports’ Dushawn London.

White, who will play for his fourth team in as many seasons, hails from Dallas, Texas. While he hasn’t visited any of the programs yet, 247 Sports reported that he’s taking Zoom calls with coaches and evaluating options.

Kansas and head coach Bill Self has yet to land any players in the transfer portal while losing six of their own: David Coit, AJ Storr, Rylan Griffen, Rakease Passmore, Flory Bidunga, and Zach Clemence. With the Jayhawks also losing guards Dajuan Harris, Zeke Mayo, and Shakeel Moore, forward KJ Adams, and center Hunter Dickinson to eligibility, they have a lot of holes to fill.
St. John’s, which lost star RJ Luis and forward Brady Dunlap to the portal and Kadary Richmond, Aaron Scott, and Deivon Smith to eligibility, has already been a big spender in the portal period, picking up top guard Joson Sanon.
USC has only lost one player, freshman Isaiah Elohim, to the transfer portal, but with an aging roster full of seniors out of eligibility, there is plenty of space for White. Mississippi State, which lost Riley Kugel to the transfer portal, Josh Hubbard to the NBA Draft, and two starters, Cameron Matthews and RJ Melendez, to eligibility, should also be crossing their fingers that White looks their way.
Oklahoma has lost four players, including four-star recruit and redshirt freshman forward Jacob Cole, to the portal and a handful to eligibility.

Cincinnati has yet to lose any players to the portal, still being alive in the College Basketball Crown tournament, but that will likely change soon.
