DJ Lagway Showing Athletes How To Use NIL

College athletes can sometimes be seen as immature and not always aware of the world around them. In fact, that is one reason people are afraid of allowing college athletes to earn millions of dollars through their schools and endorsements.

However, DJ Lagway continues to kick that narrative to the curb as he uses his NIL to help others. The 19-year-old has used his earnings to help people rebuild after natural disasters destroyed their homes and lives.

Additionally, he has donated to women’s sports programs at the University of Florida. Lagway recently spoke about his decision to give back to the community around him.

“Growing up, my family has always prioritized giving back to the community. Through NIL, I have the chance to be part of that change, to use this opportunity for good.”

It is safe to say that the Florida Gators community is in a better place because Lagway is a part of it.

Head coach Billy Napier and his team were able to flip the switch and save their season from disaster in 2024.

After starting the regular season 4-5, the team rallied and finished the season on a four-game winning streak, winning over LSU and Ole Miss.

Now, Napier and Co. have to win more than eight games if the former wants to keep his job heading into next season.

Lagway could be the biggest key to the success of the Gators’ season. The former Mr. Football in the state of Texas threw for 1,915 yards and 12 touchdowns in limited action as a freshman.

His nine interceptions were notable, but he has a chance to improve by the time the start of the season rolls around. If he can do that, the Gators could be contenders in the SEC.
