The Arizona State Sun Devils are coming off a Big 12 championship season and an appearance in the College Football Playoff.
However, some have moved on to this season.

Sam Leavitt Is Ready for 2025
While the team was blasting “We Are The Champions” at a recent practice, starting quarterback Sam Leavitt was not a fan of it.
While speaking with the media this week, Leavitt made it clear that he is onto 2025 with five words.
“We Are The Champions” was playing for the majority of ASU’s practice. It was Kenny’s idea — he wants to make it monotonous.
Dillingham: “Nobody cares. We’re trying to make last year irrelevant.”
Sam Leavitt: “It was annoying me … We’ve got more to prove.”@DevilsDigest pic.twitter.com/F9qEDwKm9m

After the team went 3-9 overall in head coach Kenny Dillingham’s first season as the head coach back in 2023, the team had an incredible turnaround as it won 11 games and won the Big 12 in 2024. Despite losing a close game in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff to Texas, it was a fantastic season for the Sun Devils.
However, the team, led by both Leavitt and Dillingham, is focused on 2025.
Can Sam Leavitt Take the Next Step?
Leavitt, a Michigan State transfer, was the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and an all-conference performer in Tempe. He completed nearly 62% of his passes for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns, along with just six interceptions.
It will be up to him to take the next step if the Sun Devils want to repeat as Big 12 champions while hoping to make it further into the College Football Playoff.
With Colorado losing quarterback Shedeur Sanders to the NFL and Iowa State losing a few of its premiere wide receivers to the next level, the road for the Sun Devils could be easier than in 2025. But again, it will all come down to the player who is taking the snaps from under center, which is Leavitt in this case.
If he can grow into an even better player, including completing passes at a higher rate, that might be all this team needs to take it to a new level.

However, the loss of All-American running back Cam Skattebo could hurt this team on the ground in the long run if it isn’t careful.
