Now, with March Madness in full swing, Hidalgo is focused on leaving her mark on the court.

Notre Dame Star Hannah Hidalgo’s Road to Glory
The Notre Dame standout was named an Associated Press First-Team All-American for both her freshman and sophomore seasons. This achievement places her in elite company alongside basketball greats like USC’s JuJu Watkins and UConn’s Maya Moore.
Following the announcement, Hidalgo took to social media to express her gratitude, posting, “All Glory to God.”
Hidalgo averaged an impressive 24.2 points per game. She ranks fourth nationally in scoring. Additionally, her 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game solidify her as one of the most well-rounded players in the nation.
Her contributions helped propel Notre Dame to a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Fighting Irish tipped off their tournament journey on March 21, 2025, with a dominant performance against Stephen F. Austin.
Before becoming a household name in college basketball, Hidalgo made history in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) as a freshman.
She shattered the ACC freshman scoring record and became the fastest player in conference history to reach 1,000 career points. It took her just 44 games to accomplish what previous Notre Dame legend Beth Morgan needed 60 games to achieve.
But Hidalgo’s influence extends far beyond her impressive statistics. She is deeply rooted in her Christian faith, a guiding force in both her personal life and athletic career. In an interview with Sports Spectrum, she shared, “Christ is my everything,” emphasizing how her faith gives her strength and perspective.
For Hidalgo, choosing Notre Dame was about more than just basketball. She described her decision, saying, “It felt like a home.” Head Coach Niele Ivey’s strong leadership and shared faith played a crucial role in Hidalgo’s commitment to the Fighting Irish.
She recalled, “I never heard anything bad about Coach Ivey. All I heard was, ‘What you see is what you’re going to get.’”
Despite her rapid rise to stardom, Hidalgo remains humble, crediting her family and faith for keeping her grounded. Before every game, she prays with her family, reinforcing the importance of gratitude and perspective. Her father, Orlando Hidalgo, acknowledged the role faith plays in keeping her level-headed.
“If you think about it, with so much success and so many records being broken, it can get to your head, especially as a teenager,” he said.
Heading into March Madness, Hidalgo is determined to use the lessons she learned from last season’s Sweet 16 run. Reflecting on her experience, she said,
“I’ve learned a lot from the last tournament, and I think just getting to that ‘next play’ mentality is something big that I’ve been working on.”
“We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs, so just being able to be there for each other for encouragement and support,” she said.
