Langston Love Transfer Portal: Top 5 Landing Spots for the Baylor’s Guard

Following Baylor Bears’ elimination in the 2025 March Madness tournament, guard Langston Love has declared for the Transfer Portal. The Universal City, Texas native spent four injury-riddled seasons in Waco as part of head coach Scott Drew’s program and has one year left to play at his next stop.

Love averaged 8.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 20 games this season; he has played in 74 games throughout his Baylor career. He was a front-runner for the Big 12’s Sixth Man of the Year award in 2023-2024 and was averaging 11 points per game on 48% shooting from beyond the arc before an ankle injury cut his season short after 24 games.

This will certainly not be an ideal signing for any team, as Long still has much to prove. With a rich injury history, what five teams could take a chance on Love? How about a team with a vibrant history: the Georgetown Hoyas?

Georgetown certainly had a down year by its standards. However, with considerable years from Micah Peavy, Thomas Sorber, and Malik Mack, adding a potential healthy Love to that team could improve it. It’s important to remember that Love, when healthy, is a fantastic ball player.

Another team in the market for Love could very well be the New Mexico Lobos. The Lobos had a great year this year and made it into the second round of the 2025 March Madness tournament before being bounced by the Michigan State Spartans. New Mexico won its first-round game against the No.7 ranked Marquette Golden Eagles as the underdog.

This came as Donovan Dent and Nelly Junior Joseph continued to have great games. Dent and Joseph, alongside Tru Washington, had great years, and adding a potential healthy Love to that group could make it one to look out for in years to come.

Another team Love may want to land in the Transfer Portal is the Kentucky Wildcats. Kentucky’s men’s basketball team has been elite so far this March. After knocking off No.14-ranked Troy and No. 6-ranked Illinois in the second round, No. 3-ranked Kentucky looks to be on a tear to go deep into the tournament.

Their next game is against the No. 2 ranked Tennessee Volunteers in what is sure to be a showdown. The two teams meet on Friday in the Sweet 16. With strong play from Otega Oweh, Amari Williams, and Lamont Butler, adding a potential healthy Love to this group could make them a force for years.

We looked in his home states of Texas and/or Florida for the final two teams. Starting with Texas, the Longhorns, Aggies, and Red Raiders all offered him a spot on their team when recruiting, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Love choose a home-state team.

As for Florida, a team like Miami, with a vibrant history and a brand new head coach in Jai Lucas, could be too good to pass up for Love.

This all depends on his health. Love is a very talented player, but his injuries have been rough. However, if he could start over somewhere healthy for his final year of eligibility, it could be any of these spots.
