Both teams feature talented rosters, and that gives fantasy players multiple options for their DFS lineups. Of course, all eyes are on Chandler Morris and Shedeur Sanders to see how they’ll perform.
Sonny Dykes and the TCU offense should be explosive again in 2023, and key positions are up for grabs. Emani Bailey gets the first crack at the starting running back vacancy, though Trey Sanders should put him for time, too. The Horned Frogs wide receivers are deep, which could complicate things on the fantasy end.
Colorado’s in a similar boat. Alton McCaskill brings great value to the fantasy lineup but should share carries with Kavosiey Smoke. Jimmy Horn Jr. at $5,800 feels like a steal too, but he’s also going against a talented and experienced TCU secondary.
There’s more confidence on the TCU side because of the staff and the returning talent. Colorado has the talent to provide quality players in the fantasy world, but how effective will they be?
Prediction for Colorado vs. TCU
For as much fun as it’s been to follow Prime and his journey from Jackson State to Colorado, there’s so much work to be done. The roster turnover alone raises concerns about their ability to play cohesively, but there are still plenty of players to watch.
Most of the college football world has its eyes on Sanders and Travis Hunter. Deion’s son followed him out West and now gets a chance to showcase his arm talent. Some even have him as a Heisman contender. Hunter expects to be the best player in the country and could do so in two positions.
Make no mistake about it: Colorado has some studs on the roster, but depth is a major question. That will be the biggest key for the Buffs this year, and it might be a while before they get the ball rolling.
Georgia’s blowout of TCU in the National Championship Game last year ended a magical run for the Horned Frogs, but it showed something else too. It gave Sonny Dykes an idea of what needs to be done to compete for a championship. Even if it takes a while for them to win one.
Dykes and his staff found ways to elevate the talent on the roster into a contender, and now they are going through a transition on both sides of the ball. Morris was the starter early in the year before getting hurt in this game, so he’s ready to prove himself again.
TCU and this staff are in a better position than they were last year at this time. Colorado gave them trouble early and might do so again this year, but the Horned Frogs appear better equipped to take care of business quicker than they did in 2022.
