Will Ty Simpson Be a better Dual-Threat QB Than Jalen Milroe?
Milroe was a four-star recruit from Katy, Texas, and committed to Alabama’s 2021 signing class. He is known for his athleticism, explosive speed, and all-round agility, making him an exceptional runner, capable of converting broken plays into substantial gains.
Milroe’s rushing skills constantly put pressure on defenses in 2024, with several contests exceeding 100 rushing yards.
Milroe’s arm strength strengthens his ground game, allowing him to spread the field vertically and horizontally. However, while his deep throws demonstrate velocity, his accuracy has been erratic, resulting in missed opportunities for big plays.
His leadership abilities, both on and off the field, have been praised, indicating his dedication to team success.
Simpson, a five-star prospect from Martin, Tenn., arrived at Alabama with high expectations. His approach tends toward classic pocket passing, but his impressive movement skills make him a dynamic threat.
His high school career was highlighted by remarkable numbers, including 4,715 passing yards, 1,173 rushing yards, and 61 touchdowns, which propelled Westview High School to claim the Tennessee Class 2A State Championship in 2021.

Kalen DeBoer, Alabama’s head coach, praised Simpson’s dedication and willingness to take on leadership responsibilities, as well as his ongoing development and good team relationships. DeBoer also praised the depth of the quarterback room, emphasizing each player’s unique skill set.
