Legendary football coach Nick Saban is known for delivering results on the field, but his first-ever Gatorade bath left him fuming despite his Alabama team’s victory.

Nick Saban Loves Winning But Hates Gatorade Dunks
Saban does not doubt his career as a college football coach, which spanned from 1990 with the Toledo Rockets to 2023 when he led the Alabama Crimson Tide for the final time after 17 seasons with the school.
The Michigan State Spartans and LSU Tigers also witnessed coaching greatness, but it was Alabama where Saban found a home and would stay despite constant noise from NFL teams.
In 26 seasons as a head coach of college football programs, Saban had an overall record of 274-67-1 (80.3%). With the Crimson Tide, he was 183-25 (88%) and would win eight SEC Championships with the team. He also added two more with LSU in the early 2000s. Most notable, though, was the seven national championships that he won with the Tide.
Despite winning games, there was one thing he hated. Gatorade baths. A stone-cold man who is relentless in winning games did not appreciate being dunked by two players back on January 7, 2010, following his Alabama team’s 37-21 victory over the Texas Longhorns to win the national title.

Saban was not pleased and had the face of a man who had just lost a title game. It also was revealed that Eryk Anders and Chris Rogers ruined their coach’s shirt and hit him in the end with the Gatorade tub.
He followed it up with a firm handshake to both players and a look that could only suggest they would be lucky to be on the roster the following year.
Celebrating didn’t ever suit Saban, but he would have to get used to it and deal with it again at the six more national championship games that he won.
Rogers never went on to play in the NFL, but the former cornerback is now an NFL and NIL agent, helping players during their recruitment in college and the big time. Anders is even more intriguing. Following college, he signed with the Cleveland Browns before stinking in the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League before turning to mixed martial arts.
In 2012, he began on the amateur circuit, with his professional debut coming on August 22, 2015. He later competed at Bellator MMA and Legacy Fighting Alliance before making his UFC debut on December 9, 2017. Anders has been pretty successful. He fought Khalil Rountree Jr. on April 13, 2019, and his latest bout was in December of last year, where he beat Chris Weidman.

Many players have benefited from Saban’s stewardship, whether it has led them to careers in football or other fields. I would still appreciate it if you gave him a Gatorade bath, even though he never looked like he did.
