Earlier this week, Justin Fields officially entered free agency for the first time in his career. Fields spent last season backing up Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh. The former first-round pick, despite interest from the Steelers, decided to test the waters before committing to the black and gold again.
And Fields did not have to wait long. Within 24 hours, the former Ohio State signal-caller not only received an offer but accepted it, making a fresh start with the New York Jets.

Justin Fields-Garrett Wilson Duo to Return After 11 Touchdowns
The Jets, after their 5-12 season, knew that they needed to change up the roster. And no doubt that the Jets fans were disappointed. So, the franchise decided to take a swing, and it landed them a quarterback with something to prove. The QB is none other than Fields.
Fields has just signed a two-year, $40 million deal, with $30 million guaranteed. He is officially the Jets’ starting QB for 2025. The best part is, however, the fact that the Jets are gaining a quarterback who already has a great chemistry with their top receiver. The Ohio State Buckeyes duo is officially back.

Fields and Garrett Wilson were brilliant together on the collegiate fields. In fact, in the years they played together, they went on to make 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns. That partnership made Fields one of the coveted quarterbacks coming out of college.
And now, the duo is set for a reunion in New York.
And as the world already knows, their stats are pretty great, too! 22 catches of 20+ yards and a 133.0 passer rating when Fields targeted Wilson.
Now, that’s a sign of trust and camaraderie that cannot be ignored. Of course, the challenge ahead isn’t going to be easy, considering the fact that the Jets have had a rough history with quarterbacks.
Jets have had both high draft picks and veterans failing to turn things around. Fields, however, is a safe bet and a mix of both. At 26, he has 44 NFL starts and a 4-2 record last season in Pittsburgh.
The only question that now remains unanswered is, can Fields finally be the answer the Jets have been searching for?
While the answer is still up in the air, Fields has wasted no time in celebrating. Fields was on vacation in Dubai when the news broke. Almost instantaneously, videos of him at a restaurant, surrounded by friends, enjoying the moment with sparklers and champagne were seen online.
