NFL Network analyst Charles Davis believes that Emeka Egbuka could be the perfect wide receiver for the Houston Texans, given Houston’s pressing need for one this offseason.
Two of their top targets from last year, Tank Dell and Stefon Diggs, are unlikely to be in the fold for 2025. As a result, Houston is expected to shift its gaze elsewhere.

Charles Davis Endorses Emeka Egbuka for the Texans
In his latest mock draft, Davis stated that Houston would be better served with Egbuka on their roster. The Texans have the chance to take a different approach to their 25th overall pick in this year’s draft, prompting Davis to suggest the scenario he believes would be perfect for both parties.
Davis is confident that he can have the desired impact. His strength and agility will certainly be an important weapon in Houston’s offensive arsenal should the move happen, and Davis commended the Ohio State wide receiver’s ability and skills.
“I think he’s got a very similar profile to another former Ohio State wide receiver, Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba,” Davis said during his mock draft. “Houston needs a receiving threat to help WR1 Nico Collins, with Stefon Diggs hitting free agency and Tank Dell just returning from another major injury. Not to mention, Egbuka caught passes from C.J. Stroud at OSU.”
Egbuka’s Rising Status
Egbuka has been receiving praise after a stellar 2024 campaign at Ohio State, during which he helped lead his team to the national championship.
The 22-year-old posted an impressive 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games. He also established himself as a dynamic threat through the air, and he’s looking increasingly like one of the top receiver prospects in the class.
The Tacoma-born wide receiver could provide an added layer of confidence in the team’s future outlook. He’d also give Stroud a pass catcher who’s an almost perfect fit due to their already-established chemistry. If the opportunity arises, it could be difficult to ignore the chance to reunite the duo.

However, this looks more like wishful thinking. Wide receivers are becoming increasingly important in the NFL, and the Ohio State product could have a high draft value, as many teams will be looking to reinforce their offensive units with an established wide receiver.
