College basketball fans rejoice! The most exciting time of year is nearly here. With Selection Sunday just 11 days away, it is time to consider when fans can expect the madness to begin.

Date of Selection Sunday
With some conference tournaments already underway, Selection Sunday takes place on the Sunday at the end of championship week.
This year, Selection Sunday will take place on Sunday, March 16.
This is when fans will get a first-hand glimpse of the field of the 68 teams that will be taking center stage throughout March.
The First Four
After Selection Sunday, the First Four will occur in Dayton, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 18, and Wednesday, March 19.
These games represent a play-in tournament with eight teams fighting for a spot in the Round of 64.
Two games will be fought between 16 seeds, while the other two will be fought between 11 seeds.
The Start of the Round of 64
Once the First Four finishes in Dayton, the tournament will officially start on Thursday, March 20.
From that Thursday to Sunday, the Round of 64 and the Round of 32 will take place, giving fans all over the world four days of nonstop basketball.
Winners from the first weekend will play in the Sweet 16 and potentially the Elite Eight from March 27 to March 30.

The tournament wraps up in early April, with the Final Four on Saturday, April 5, and the championship on Monday, April 8.
