College football analyst RJ Young recently expressed surprise at the speed and quickness of Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning. While discussing the upcoming college football season on “The Number One College Football Show” earlier this week, Young highlighted Manning’s dual-threat ability as both a passer and a runner.

RJ Young’s Arch Manning Comparison
Excitement surrounding Manning has grown in recent months, as he is widely expected to become the Longhorns’ starting quarterback next season. With former starter Quinn Ewers declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, Manning appears primed to take over as QB1 in Austin.
Young compared Manning’s skill set to former Texas quarterbacks Vince Young and Colt McCoy, both of whom spent time with the Cleveland Browns at some point in their careers.
“We’ve seen the arm talent, you’ve seen the arm talent, you know the man can spin it. But, I was shocked to find out just how fast Arch is because he is not a small guy. He’s a big dude running. And, I think we all were frankly when he came into that game against UTSA, and he took off running, and it was very clear that nobody was going to catch him. It’s like, oh goodness, man.
“What if you had Colt McCoy and David Ash playing quarterback for you at the same time, but you had David Ash’s feet, and you had Colt McCoy’s quarterback ability? The only other guy to come close to that is Vince Young, and Vince Young was the last quarterback to lead Texas to a national championship.”
Arch Manning’s 2025 Outlook
Manning is one of the most intriguing prospects in college football in recent memory. He is the nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning and the grandson of longtime New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning.
However, beyond his famous lineage, Arch is an extremely talented player with the potential to dominate both the college game and the NFL in the future.

Manning is an accurate passer with the ability to make throws at any depth on the field. As Young noted, he also possesses strong mobility, allowing him to create plays off-platform and escape the pocket under pressure.
In limited action last season, Manning threw for 939 yards, recorded 13 total touchdowns, and had just two interceptions while completing an impressive 67.8% of his passes.
