Armand Membou’s 40-Yard Dash Time Puts NFL Scouts on Notice

For an offensive lineman weighing 332 pounds, 4.91 is a fast time. An NFL lineman hasn’t gotten a time that high since the 2003 combine.

Missouri Tigers offensive tackle Armand Membou didn’t do a second forty but had substantial test numbers in other areas of the combine, including a 9’7″ broad jump.

Only LSU OT Will Campbell could come close to these numbers, going 4.98 in the 40 and 9’5″ in the broad jump.

Membou has played guard and tackle in college. San Francisco 49ers OT Trent Williams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers OT Tristan Wirfs had similar NFL Combine numbers and are two of the NFL’s best, leading many to believe that Membou has some serious potential.

Daniel Jeremiah’s Ranking Puts Campbell at 8th, Membou at 18th

NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah ranked Membou 18th on his recent Top 50 list of NFL prospects, while Campbell ranked 8th.

According to Jeremiah’s ranking, Campbell measured just short of the 33-inch wingspan desired by NFL teams for frontline OL players, while Membou has long arms.

Jeremiah says, “He could more than hold his own at tackle in the NFL but has the tools to become an All-Pro guard. He reminds me of Alijah Vera-Tucker coming out of college.”

Membou struggles with his hands, which could lead to holding calls in the NFL. He can also be too aggressive on blocks. He has the physical specifications and athletic ability but needs work on his blocking techniques.

This draft class, in addition to Campbell, also has Joe Alt and Olu Fashanu, who are two of the best left tackles available to teams. A left guard position has a higher profile in the NFL than a right tackle.
