‘Speed Factory’ – CFB Fans React As Texas WRs Keep Torching the 40-Yard Dash at NFL Combine

CFB fans react to Texas Longhorns WRs clocking impressive times at the combine's 40-yard dash.

Over the years, wide receivers from the Texas Longhorns have showcased impressive numbers at the Scouting Combine’s 40-yard dash. Last year, former Longhorns WR Xavier Worthy set the combine record by running the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds in Indianapolis, with the Kansas City Chiefs then drafting him with the 28th overall pick in the draft.

This year, fans once again saw Texas WRs torch it up with their insane speed at the combine.

CFB Fans React to Texas WRs Lighting Up the 40-Yard Dash With Incredible Speed

On the third day of the Combine, WRs Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden ran the 40-yard dash at Lucas Oil Stadium. Golden was one of the fastest participants this year, putting up an impressive 4.30 seconds (unofficial). On the other hand, Bond ran it in 4.40 seconds (unofficial) on his second attempt, shaving off a fraction of a second from his first attempt.

PFF posted a tweet on X sharing the 40-yard dash times of Texas WRs over the years, with Worthy still being the fastest (4.21), followed by Golden (4.30) and Adonai Mitchell (4.32).

Fans reacted to the comments to the speedy wide receivers Texas has produced over the years.

“Texas might need their own official track team at this point. Speed factory!” one fan exclaimed.

“Sark got Texas constantly producing receivers, something they’ve never been able to do consistently,” another fan commented.

“Texas is SpeedU,” this fan said.

    “Speed demons,” another fan stated.

“If you’re a receiver and don’t go to Texas you just hating at that point lol,” this fan commented.

“Texas has the fastest WRs BUT LSU is Overall WRU,” another fan said.

Isaiah Bond Failed To Live Up to His Goal of Beating Xavier Worthy’s 40 Time

On Friday, Texas WR Isaiah Bond said he would beat Worthy’s 40-yard dash time last year. He talked about being a sprinter and being confident in his abilities.

“I’ve been running my whole life,” Bond said. “I’ve been one of the fastest my whole life, so I’m going to go up out there, and when practice meets preparations, greatness is achieved. So I’m just going to trust my training and put on a show.”

In the end, Bond failed to achieve this goal, clocking an official time of 4.39 seconds and falling 0.18 seconds behind Worthy’s time. The Chiefs WR took notice of Bond’s comments and took to social media with a tweet of his own.

Despite this, Bond is still one of the hottest WR prospects in this year’s draft. Last season, he recorded 540 receiving yards and five TDs for the Longhorns. According to NFL.com, he is the seventh-highest-graded receiver in this year’s class.
