The HBO hit show, “Hard Knocks,” has followed the training camp and preseason of an NFL team since 2021. However, in recent years, it has been harder and harder for HBO to find a pro team willing to do the program, as many NFL coaches and owners see it as a distraction.
Due to the struggle of finding an NFL team for the show, HBO has decided to pivot and feature a college program for the first time.
Bill Belichick and North Carolina Will Be Featured on ‘Hard Knocks’
Hard Knocks will feature the North Carolina Tar Heels per Front Office Sports.
The show will follow new Tar Heel head coach Bill Belichick and new Tar Heel GM Michael Lombardi as they navigate the new world of college football.

The show will give fans a fly-on-the-wall view of the Tar Heels’ spring portal period, spring practice, and fall camp, giving them some insight into how the world of a Power Four program operates.
While it’s a bummer that we won’t get to see the usual Hard Knocks format of an NFL team, for college football fans like me, this is incredibly exciting news.
Not only do we get a college team and offseason on camera, but it’s none other than legendary head coach Bill Belichick that we will get to follow along.
I can only imagine the type of look we’ll get at Belichick in his first college football coaching role, as well as Belichick on the recruiting trail.
