CFB Fans React to Texas AD’s Firm Stance on Branding Decisions

Texas AD Chris Del Conte shares his firm stance on branding and advertisement with the Longhorns football program.

The Texas Longhorns had a great debut season in the SEC during the 2024 season. Steve Sarkisian recorded a 13-3 campaign while also appearing in the conference title showdown against the Georgia Bulldogs.

In addition, the Texas Longhorns also qualified for the first year of the 12-team College Football Playoff. Unfortunately, their natty hopes were crushed by champions Ohio State in the Orange Bowl semifinal. As the Texas Longhorns prepare for the upcoming season, their AD has taken a firm stance on branding.

Texas AD’s Decision on Branding and Advertisement With the Program

According to a post by Orangebloods.com, Texas AD Chris Del Conte has taken a stance on companies and brands wanting to advertise and engage in marketing through their football program.

Del Conte stated that the Longhorns will not be putting ads on the field or uniforms. He stated that he does not want to mess with the “perfection” of the football program’s legacy and branding.

CFB fans took to the comment section to share their thoughts on Del Conte’s decision.

“LFG get rid of the Nike logo and make it a longhorn and put in on the collar,” one fan suggested.

“A worthy example for others,” another fan commented.

“No one should,” this fan stated.

“What do you call the Nike emblem,” this fan said, referring to the Nike logo on the Longhorns uniform.

“Thank you CDC! Hook EM,” another fan wrote.

“That’s why he’s the goat,” one fan said.

Chris Del Conte also made some confident statements about the roster and scholarship limits after the recent House vs. NCAA settlement.

“This is the University of Texas. We’re good at everything. We are going to fully fund every one single one of our sports at the highest division,” Del Conte said.

Chris Del Conte Makes Plans for Texas To Face Tough Opponents on the Gridiron

On Wednesday, during a town hall, the Texas AD talked about scheduling tougher opponents for the Longhorns in the future. He believes that it will help develop the Longhorns’ branding and also give fans quality games to watch.

“Our brand, and I firmly believe this, our brand should play the greatest brands in college football because we’re the bets,” Del Conte said. “We’re going to play Ohio State, we’re going to play Michigan, we’ve just signed home-and-home with Notre Dame.

“Those games matter. With a 12-game Playoff, those games matter. They matter to me. They should matter to you. You want to play the very best. I’m not issuing a cupcake schedule. Our coaches and our student-athletes aren’t. They want to play the very best…. That’s what we’re going to continue to do.”
