Shemar Stewart Scouting Report: Trust the Traits?

Our Shemar Stewart scouting report takes a look at a player with low production in college, but potentially elite NFL upside.

Shemar Stewart is one of the most interesting prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. The former Texas A&M Aggie pass rusher only racked up 4.5 sacks in three seasons, but many NFL teams and scouts think that he could become a top-10 pick.

Our Shemar Stewart scouting report dives into the tape to see if his traits will translate, or if he’s more of an athletic specimen than NFL edge rusher. Read on to find out if that upside is real or if Stewart is being massively overhyped.

    Shemar Stewart NFL Draft Outlook

Shemar Stewart’s lack of production in the box score is cause for concern, but when you watch the film most of those concerns go away. While he didn’t sack the quarterback a lot in college he got a lot of pressures, especially in his final season.

Mike Green Scouting Report: Elite Pass-Rushing Traits Translate

Stewart’s size combined with his ability to use a speed-to-power rush should make him one of the most sought-after players in this draft class. The thing that sticks out most when watching Stewart is his raw athleticism and strength. While his stock is already high, I expect it to go through the roof following the NFL combine as he should test very well.

He’ll need to work on finishing plays, as he’s garnered a reputation for putting pressure on the quarterback without getting sacks. But, he’s constantly in position to make plays and there’s reason to believe his potential will translate into future production, making him a better pro than college player.

Stewart should find himself being picked within the top 15 in the 2025 NFL Draft despite his overall lack of production in college. The traits are just that good.
Bottom line: Shemar Stewart’s raw athleticism, strength, and potential should make NFL scouts overlook the production and he should come in and immediately make an impact for whatever team drafts him.
Worst case scenario, Stewart can be a rotational piece on the defensive line who can come in and get after the quarterback on third downs. At best though, he’s a cornerstone pass-rusher with elite upside.
