Cavinder Twins Open Up About Eating Disorder Recovery, Inspire Others With Their Journey

“Happy national eating disorder week,” they wrote. “It’s been two years since we finally reached out for help about our eating disorder. We were division 1 athletes, starving ourselves, eating less than 50 carbs a day, while trying to compete on the court. No one was going to tell us to eat and while we knew we had a problem.. We were too stubborn.

“We used macro counting as a way to eat as little as possible instead of to eat more,” they continued. “This was a repeated cycle for four years. We would never change. We lost our cycles, our hair started to fall out and we had multiple inner health problems forming from the inside out.

“Being extremist is only good if you put it to good use. We used it as a way to control the only thing that we could, food. Finally, after reaching our breaking point and my mom reaching out to our coaches, we reached out for help.”

@cavindertwins happy national eating disorder week 🤍 it’s been two years since we finally reached out for help about our eating disorder. We were division 1 athletes, starving ourselves, eating less than 50 carbs a day, while trying to compete on the court. No one was going to tell us to eat and while we knew we had a problem.. we were too stubborn. We used macro counting as a way to eat as little as possible instead of to eat more. This was a repeated cycle for four years. We would never change . We lost our cycles, our hair started to fall out, and we had multiple inner health problems forming from the inside out . Being extremist is only good if you put it to good use. We used it as a way to control the only thing we could, food. Finally, after hitting our breaking point and my mom reaching out to our coaches, we reached out for help. Two years later, we are healthy, eating 200 carbs, while staying lean. This whole journey allowed both of us to fall in love with nutrition and use our story as resources to so many girls that struggle with this. You are not alone and we hope our story helps anyone who is still fighting their own battles. 🤍 #fitnessjourney #health #recovery ♬ SKINNY – Billie Eilish

The Cavinder twins then added that it has been two years that they had recovered, eating 200 carbs and still staying lean and healthy. They said the journey allowed them to fall in love with nutrition and hope that their story will inspire other girls battling eating disorder.
