Fans React to Ashton Jeanty’s Decision Not To Participate in On-Field Drills at NFL Combine

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Heisman Trophy runner-up will not participate in on-field workouts at the 2025 NFL Combine. However, he will be present and active in medical evaluations and team interviews, which also take place in Indianapolis.

His decision comes with the caveat: “He will take part in on-field drills during Boise State’s Pro Day,” Pelissero reported.

Jeanty is expected to be the first running back selected off the board, with a large consensus from draft analysts giving him a first-round grade in the running back position.

He had a historic 2024 season for the Broncos, rushing for the second-most yards in a season in college football history. He carried the ball 374 times, totaling 2,601 yards and an eye-popping 29 touchdowns.

His decision not to run at the combine sparked numerous fan reactions.

National NFL Reporter Arye Pull complimented the decision, citing his high-level character.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if this is to bring NFL eyes to Boise in effort to help teammates with NFL futures,” Pull said. “That’s the type of kid he is— great player, better person.”

One fan agreed with the choice, saying the Broncos’ running back showed enough during the season and that there’s no reason to risk injury at the combine.

“Makes sense—jeanty’s tape already speaks for itself, no need to risk injury at the combine when he can shine at pro day,” the fan said.

Another fan had a different view on the decision, criticizing the running back.

“So a RB that looks slow and weak. Will dispel those claims by not working out or running. lol heeeee knowws. He knows. He knows,” that fan said.

Regardless of the fan reaction, Jeanty has made his choice. Whether it plays out the way he intends will be seen in the future, but one thing is for sure: Jeanty is a terrific prospect that will be a coveted running back option for many teams throughout the league.
