    Donovan Edwards vs. Ohio State

As the Buckeyes official website notes, “A gold charm replica of a pair of football pants is given to players and coaches following wins over Michigan.

“The tradition started in 1934 when first-year coach Francis Schmidt told those wondering how OSU would fare with its nemesis from Ann Arbor: ‘They put their pants on one leg at a time just like everybody else.’ Schmidt’s Buckeyes then went and defeated Michigan four consecutive times, all by shutout.”

Edwards has played for the Wolverines for the past four seasons, a college football career that coincides perfectly with Michigan’s four consecutive wins over their rival Ohio State.

Since Edwards began playing for the Wolverines, Michigan has won by scores of 42-27 (2021), 45-23 (2022), 30-24 (2023), and 13-10 (2024). As a result, no Buckeyes player has received a pair of gold pants during his Michigan career, something Edwards has made clear in his recent autographs.

The popular Michigan fan X profile “@bluebyninety” posted a photo of one of the autographs and described its content.

“Donovan Edwards is signing items with ‘No Gold Pants’ as the inscription. Peep the top right 😂😂😂,” the post was captioned.

Will Donovan Edwards Be Drafted This Year?

At this time, Edwards appears to be in contention to be selected in the late rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was invited to participate in the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, something that generally tends to be a positive sign of your chances of being drafted.

In College Sports Network’s latest Cleveland Browns Mock Draft completed by Max Dorsey, Edwards was selected in the seventh round, No. 257 overall by the Browns.

“There was a point in time when it seemed like Donovan Edwards was going to be a Day-Two pick, but after his final year at Michigan, where he didn’t seem to be as explosive or elite as scouts once thought, his stock seems to have tanked. If the Browns could get any resemblance of Edwards of old, however, this could be a steal with their last pick in the draft.”
