Alabama point guard Mark Sears popped up on the injury report prior to the Crimson Tide’s meeting with the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday evening.

Mark Sears Probable To Play in Top-25 Matchup With Kentucky Wildcats
Sears appeared on the injury report prior to Alabama’s game against Kentucky with an undisclosed injury, although he is listed as probable to play.
He didn’t seem to suffer an injury in the Tide’s last outing against Missouri and head coach Nate Oats didn’t mention anything injury-related in his Friday press conference.

Sears has been one of the best point guards in the country over the past two seasons and is one of the main reasons for Alabama’s current No. 4 ranking in the country.
A Second Team All-American in 2024, Sears was selected as the coaches’ choice for the SEC Preseason Player of the Year heading into the 2024-25 season. He’s currently leading the team in scoring at 18.5 points per game and assists with 4.8 assists per game.
Though his shooting percentages are down, he had his best game of the season in the Tide’s aforementioned last game against Missouri. In a 110-98 loss, Sears poured in 35 points on 12 of 20 from the field and 5 of 11 beyond the arc while also contributing five assists.
If Sears is able to play, he may be hampered by an injury. In that case, other Alabama players will have to step up and take some of the load off of their star point guard. Backup guard Aden Holloway has emerged as of late, scoring in double figures in seven of his last eight outings. Additionally, three other Tide players average in double-digit scoring.
