Cam Ward vows to show no mercy to NFL teams that will pass on him during the 2025 NFL Draft. The Miami Hurricanes QB sent a stern message to franchises during his special moment at the Davey O’Brien Award ceremony.

Cam Ward Has a Strong Message for NFL Teams
Ward is likely in contention to be a top-five pick while going head-to-head with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. Several quarterback-needy teams are already on top of the draft boards and are expected to pounce on him. But looking at his latest comment, Ward seems to be looking for nothing less than the No. 1 overall pick.
The 22-year-old gunslinger added one more accolade to his résumé: the Davey O’Brien Award, which is given in recognition of the best college football quarterback in the country. Although he failed to win the Heisman, this recent achievement was an icing on the cake since it came at a very crucial time.
Powerful: Miami QB Cam Ward speaks on the draft:
“If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.”

The NFL Scouts and managers are devising strategies and finalizing their draft picks for the grand April event at Indianapolis. Before receiving the trophy, Ward made his intentions crystal clear: teams passing on him must pay.
“OK, you’re either going to draft me, or you’re not,” Ward said Monday night before the Davey O’Brien Award announcement. “If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.”
This certainly raised many eyebrows and sparked debate among pundits and football experts.
Ward has been phenomenal in the 2024 season as one of the most lethal prospects in the country. He was pivotal in leading the Hurricanes to a 10-3 record but missed out on finding a spot in the Playoff.
He played in the Pop-Tarts Bowl against Iowa State but was criticized for leaving the field at halftime and not returning to finish the game. Later, he mentioned that it was all part of the plan.

“I just think we all got what we needed out of it. They seen things that they think they need to work on … for this season coming up. And they also knew, you know, what I had on the line,” Ward said per nfl.com.
According to the current NFL Draft order, the Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 overall pick and reportedly need a QB. Ward happens to be a likely choice. If they pass on him, it will be either the Cleveland Browns or the New York Giants potentially placing a bet on him.
