Syracuse Season Picks & Predictions: Can the Orange Get 10 Wins Again in 2025?

The Syracuse Orange are coming off one of the best seasons in program history, but can they replicate that success into next year?

The Syracuse Orange won 10 games last season—a feat achieved only three times since 2000. Fran Brown took over in 2024 after being named recruiter of the year.

Brown’s recruiting prowess helped Syracuse land transfer QB Kyle McCord and other key players to notch 10 wins. But with a significant talent drain, how many wins will the Orange earn in 2025?

    Predicting Syracuse’s 2025 Season

Syracuse faces a tough schedule in 2025, opening against Tennessee and also squaring off with Miami, Clemson and Notre Dame.

While the Orange looked impressive last year, the biggest question mark is the quarterback position. Syracuse brought in LSU transfer Rickie Collins, who is projected to start in 2025. Although highly touted, there’s little college film on him, making it hard to gauge his potential.

The team also lost key talent, with eight starters declaring for the NFL Draft, including Fadil Diggs, Oronde Gadsden, Marlow Wax and Lequint Allen.

The good news is that Brown remains at the helm—widely regarded as one of the best leaders in the country—and both coordinators, Jeff Nixon and Elijah Robinson, are back. Despite the talent loss, the outlook remains positive.

    Record Prediction: 7-5

    2025 Syracuse Orange Football Schedule

    Saturday, Aug. 30 vs. Tennessee

The season opener will be tough for the Orange as they face Josh Huepel’s high-powered offense, led by former five-star Nico Iamaleava. While Syracuse has the talent to keep it close, but I expect this one to be a loss.

    Saturday, September 6 vs. UConn

A bounce-back game for Syracuse, which has beaten UConn twice in the last three seasons. The Orange should win this one at home.

    Friday, September 12 vs. Colgate

Another game where the Orange should have no problems. I expect them to win this one by a large margin.

    Saturday, September 20 @ Clemson

Not only do the Orange have to take on the Clemson Tigers, but they have to travel to Death Valley for this game. To me, the Tigers are the best team in the ACC right now, and this will be a loss for the Orange.

    Saturday, September 27 vs. Duke

Duke added transfer Darian Mensah from Tulane to bolster its offense, but in a dome game, Syracuse should come out on top.

    Saturday, October 4 @ SMU

SMU won 12 games last season and made the College Football Playoff. With the Orange traveling to Dallas, this game is likely to be a loss.

    Saturday, October 18 vs. Pittsburgh

At home against the Panthers, the Orange should get their revenge after losing to Pitt last season on the road.

Saturday, October 25 @ Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech is emerging as one of the ACC’s most talented teams. However, after remarks exchanged between Fran Brown and Georgia Tech’s coach Brent Key last season, Syracuse is expected to take this game personally and win.

Friday, October 31 vs. North Carolina

It’s Halloween in Syracuse, and Bill Belichick is coming to town. This game should be a fun one and close throughout, but in the end, I see Bill Belichick’s squad winning this one.

    Saturday, November 8 @ Miami

Miami came into Syracuse last year and went up 21-0 early on the Orange. Then Brown and Kyle McCord mounted an epic comeback and beat the Hurricanes. I think Brown has Cristobal’s number, and Syracuse beats Miami once again.

Saturday, November 22 @ Notre Dame

Playing on the road against a team that made the National Championship last season is a tall task. Notre Dame should win this one pretty easily.

Saturday, November 29 vs. Boston College

While Boston College is a solid team, Syracuse is a tough team to beat at home during rivalry week. The Orange win this one to close out their season.
