What Miami HC Tricia Cullop and Sisters Brandi Perkins, Haley Cavinder Said About Hanna

“The U'”s women’s hoops account made an Instagram post to celebrate Cavinder for reaching 500 career assists on Tuesday.

“Congrats to @hanna.cavinder on hitting 5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ career assists! 🏀,” the post was captioned.

Cavinder’s twin sister, Haley, and their older sister, Brandi Perkins, joined other fans in the comment section to hail her for her latest achievement.

Perkins wrote, “QUEEN!!!!,” while Haley wrote, “That’s my PG.”

After helping Miami women’s college basketball to their first-ever Elite Eight last season, the Cavinder twins, Hanna and Haley were ready to quit basketball.

By this point, the two were already successful social media influencers and NIL trailblazers, having signed lucrative deals with WWE, Victoria’s Secret, Boost Mobile, Crocs, TurboTax, and more. They had even appeared at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway.

However, the twins reversed their decision to retire from basketball last year and announced that they would return for their final season with The “U.” First-year Miami head coach Tricia Cullop was happy to welcome the Cavinder twins back to the team for obvious reasons.

“They wanted to come back together…And I was thrilled,” Cullop told For The Win in November. “They said, ‘Would you take both of us?’ I pulled up the film, and I thought I’d be crazy not to. They’re both so skilled, they’re hard workers, and they can—not only score themselves—but set up other people. They set the tone every day.”

As for Haley Cavinder, her decision to return for her fifth year was purely due to her love for basketball, which she said she missed during her one-year hiatus from the sport.

“I missed it,” Cavinder said. “I think that’s inevitable to always miss your sport when you walk away from it. But having the what-if—like, what if I took my fifth year? I need to take my fifth year to know that I did it. I just missed it a ton. I’m such a competitive person, so just being able to have that feeling again is something I’m looking forward to.”

Haley is enjoying a stellar season. She leads the Canes in scoring with 18.8 points per game and is averaging 6.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists on 47.2 percent shooting per game.

In Miami’s narrow loss to Florida State, Haley led the team with 27 points, shooting 10-of-16 and was 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.

She also added eight rebounds and seven assists. Last week, the senior guard reached the 2,500-point mark for her career and is the only active player to have 2,500 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 500 assists.

As for Hanna Cavinder, she may not be as exceptional as her twin,, but she does have a decent stat line for the Canes this season. Averaging 6.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists on 45.7 percent shooting per game, Hanna’s latest 500-assist career mark is an indication that she is a great role player.
