Angel Reese Makes History With Unrivaled Ejection

During her game with Rose Basketball Club against the Laces, Reese was ejected in the second quarter after receiving two technical fouls in quick succession.

The sequence started when she was called for a foul while guarding Tiffany Hayes, who fell while driving toward the basket. Reese reacted to the call, which led to the technicals and her early exit from the game. Reese became the first player ejected from an Unrivaled League game.

Reese tried to explain that her gestures were not directed at the referee, but the call stood, making her the first player in league history to be ejected from a game.

Shortly after leaving the court, Reese quickly took to social media, posting a one-word response on X: “Sayless.”

Despite the drama, the Rose secured an 83-69 victory over the Laces. The win was crucial, improving their record to 2-4 after a rough start to the season. Meanwhile, the Laces fell to 4-2.

Before her early exit, Reese’s presence on the court had been impactful. She recorded 15 rebounds, six points, and three assists in just seven minutes. Chelsea Gray, who led the game with 28 points, eight assists, and three rebounds, was named Player of the Game.

    What is the Unrivaled League?

Unrivaled, a new 3×3 women’s basketball league, provides an offseason alternative for WNBA players to develop their skills. The league features 36 players across six teams, including co-founders Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, alongside Reese, who recently completed her rookie season with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.

Despite the controversy, Reese remains a key player to watch in Unrivaled. Her ability to dominate the boards and contribute across multiple stat categories ensures that she will continue to be a major presence in the league.

The Rose will return to action Friday against the Mist, aiming to build momentum after this statement win.
