What NFL Analysts Have To Say About Jeremiah Smith

Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz was just the latest to heap praise on Smith, sharing what one NFL executive told him: ”He might be the most advanced receiver I’ve ever seen at that age. To be so young and so technically sound, then you add the physical tools, and things get pretty freaky like some built-in-a-lab stuff.”

Shultz posted the rave review after Ohio State defeated the Oregon Ducks 41-21 in the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff. Against Oregon, who was undefeated at the time, Smith caught seven passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns.

Standing 6’3” and 215 pounds, Smith has the physical stature, speed, and technical qualities to be compared to the elite NFL receivers. CSN’s own James Fragoza wrote in Smith’s NFL Draft evaluation:

“Due to his frame (6’3″ and 215 pounds), physical style, and ability to threaten defenses vertically, Smith has already been compared to future NFL Hall of Famer Julio Jones. The scary part? Jones’ best season with the Alabama Crimson Tide was his last (78-1,133-7 line) — Smith has a chance to dwarf those numbers in his first year on the collegiate stage.”

ESPN analyst Jordan Reid shared a similar opinion to Fragoza, as he compared Smith to Jones during his time in Tuscaloosa.

Among the best wide receivers that Ohio has sent to the NFL Draft over the years, including Jaxson Smith-Njigba, Garrett Wilson, and Marvin Harrison Jr., Smith is considered the best in the group.
