The Miami (OH) Redhawks have landed former Notre Dame Fighting Irish WR Deion Colzie. How will he fit with Baylor Bears transfer QB Dequan Finn in head coach Chuck Martin’s offense?
Deion Colzie Lands With Miami RedHawks
Colzie was with the Fighting Irish for four seasons, appearing in 44 total games and catching 21 passes for 345 yards and three touchdowns. ESPN ranked him No. 10 on their WR prospects list in 2021.
At 6’4″ and 211 pounds, he is listed as the No. 149 wideout in the transfer portal. Colzie had five catches for 41 yards and a TD this past season on 132 snaps. He also saw time as a short-yardage quarterback.
In 2022, he had nine receptions for 192 yards and his first college TD. He redshirted as a junior in 2023 and was limited to three catches for 45 yards.
Notre Dame lost the national championship on Jan. 20 to the Ohio State Buckeyes after beating the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Orange Bowl.
Jayden Thomas is another Notre Dame player who entered the portal following the loss, but he landed with the Virginia Cavaliers.
Offensive linemen Pat Coogan, Rocco Spindler, Sam Pendleton, and Ty Chan also entered the transfer portal. Pendleton and Chan have chosen their new schools, heading to Tennessee and UConn, respectively.

The Redhawks were 9-5 in 2024, earning a trip to the MAC Championship Game and a win over Colorado State in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl.
Miami was sixth in the MAC in passing offense per game with 217.4 yards. Colzie is one of 13 reported incoming 2025 transfers for the RedHawks as of Jan. 29.
